Summer Programs

LILTA in collaboration with Stony Brook University, Hofstra University, the Patchogue-Medford Public Library, and Flutterflies Incorporated, offers two distinct programs for middle school and high school students.

Program #1: The Matthew Moore Summer Youth Program

The Matthew Moore Summer Youth Program is a two-week program, focused on social activism and technology learning experiences for middle school students. The program inspires students to become agents of change by engaging them in project-based learning; promoting independence and cultivating critical thinking; developing students’ technological, civic and arts skills; providing opportunities for social emotional skill development and practices, and encouraging family participation and learning.

Program #2: Summer College Experience Institute

The Summer College Experience Institute is focused on familiarizing female high school students in 10th and 11th grade on the college experience and STEAM careers. Students participate as residents at one of the Stony Brook dormitories during the entire period of the institute.
